Light Motor Assessor
Bring your motor claims expertise to a high-performing team shaping smarter repair outcomes.
We do things a bit differently here
Since opening our doors in 2015, Ando has grown strongly in the New Zealand insurance market by doing insurance differently. We’re a majority New Zealand–owned, multi-lines insurance business, operating as an underwriting agency in partnership with The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd and working closely with New Zealand’s leading insurance brokers.
At Ando, we believe insurance is about relationships, not transactions. Our purpose is to positively impact the wellbeing of New Zealanders — especially when things don’t go to plan. That belief shapes how we work with our customers, brokers, suppliers and each other.
The role
We’re looking for an experienced Light Motor Assessor to join our high-performing team based in Auckland.
In this role, you’ll play a critical part in delivering fair, efficient and high-quality motor claim outcomes. You’ll bring strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine desire to build trusted relationships with repairers, suppliers and internal teams — all while keeping the customer experience front of mind.
What you’ll be responsible for
Carrying out damage assessments across a range of vehicles within the Light Motor and Private Motor space
Managing repair and reinstatement costs while ensuring vehicles are repaired within agreed service standards
Completing repair and total loss reports in line with reporting criteria
Working closely with the wider claims team to resolve technical queries and support consistent decision-making
Building and maintaining strong, professional relationships with repairers and parts suppliers nationwide
Staying across industry trends, technology and repair methodologies to support best-practice outcomes
What we’re looking for
5+ years’ experience in insurance claims, with a strong focus on light motor
Experience in assessing heavy motor vehicle claims (desirable)
Broad and deep knowledge of the smash repair industry, including current trends, technologies and repair practices
Strong technical understanding of motor claims processes and assessment methodologies
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders
Sound judgement, critical thinking and the ability to perform under pressure and time constraints
Flexibility to adapt as Ando’s Claims strategy and operating model continues to evolve
Willingness and ability to travel when required
