Senior Business Intelligence Analyst
More than dashboards — this role is about partnership, influence, and making things better.
We’re not looking for someone who just builds dashboards.
We’re looking for someone who asks better questions.
At Ando, this Senior Business Intelligence Analyst role is less about ticking off technical skills, and more about how you think, how you communicate, and how you show up.
You’ll do well in this role if you:
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and actually enjoy building trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels
Aren’t afraid to respectfully challenge thinking and offer a better way forward
Enjoy working in shades of grey — where things aren’t fully defined, and that’s kind of the point
Naturally take others with you — mentoring, coaching, and leading from the front when it counts
You’ll bring solid experience in a BI or data-focused role, with a track record of turning data into meaningful business insight. You’re comfortable working with modern data environments and have hands-on experience with data modelling and languages/tools such as SQL, Python, dbt, Snowflake or Qlik (we use Qlik, but if your background is in Power BI or Tableau, that’s absolutely fine — it’s your thinking that matters more than the tool).
You’ll likely have a relevant tertiary qualification in a data-related field, or equivalent real-world experience.
Ultimately, what matters most to us is your ability to adapt, innovate, partner with the business and make things better.
Who is Ando?
We’re a New Zealand based insurance business that partners with many of the country’s leading brokers.
But more than that, we’re a challenger brand — we don’t just accept “this is how it’s always been done.” We back our people to think differently, speak up, and shape better outcomes for our customers and partners.
That means less hierarchy, more ownership.
Less red tape, more trust.
And the opportunity to genuinely influence how things are done — not just report on them.
Sound like your kind of environment?
We’d love to hear from you — in your own words.
Instead of a traditional cover letter, send us a short note (400 words max) telling us something about:
Why this role caught your attention
How you like to work with stakeholders
A time you made something better (big or small)
We’re not looking for perfect answers — we’re interested in how you think, communicate, and approach problems. Authenticity beats generic/AI responses every time.
