The opportunity

This role has come about due to an internal promotion, which reflects the strength of both the team and the development opportunities within Ando.

We’re looking for a Commercial Underwriter to join our Northern Commercial Markets team, based in Auckland’s viaduct.

You’ll manage your own portfolio, make confident underwriting decisions within your authority, and play a key role in how we grow and improve the way we work.

What you’ll be doing

• Partnering with brokers and BDMs on new business, renewals, and endorsements

• Assessing and underwriting commercial risks within your authority

• Managing a portfolio of renewals and new business opportunities

• Contributing to process improvements and better ways of working

• Monitoring portfolio trends to support strong commercial outcomes

• Supporting strong conversion while maintaining great turnaround times and broker experience

What you’ll bring

• 2–3+ years’ commercial underwriting experience (NZ market preferred)

• Confidence working directly with brokers and external partners

• Strong underwriting judgement with a practical, commercial mindset

• Clear, responsive communication style and a reputation for being easy to work with

• Curiosity and initiative — you look for better ways, not just standard ways
