The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, customer-focused Business Development Manager to join our high-performing Central Region Commercial Markets team, based in Palmerston North.
In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting our broker network and driving growth across the region. Strong relationship-building skills are essential, as you'll be working closely with our Commercial Underwriter to deliver great outcomes. While underwriting experience isn’t required, you’ll need at least three years of insurance experience and a strong willingness to learn.
We’re looking for someone with genuine ambition and a drive to succeed—someone ready to take a great platform and help elevate it even further. It’s a fast-paced and varied role, but for the right person, it offers huge opportunity and reward.
Responsibilities
- Managing and growing a portfolio of clients across a variety of Commercial Lines products including Property, Liability and Motor.
- Generating new business and maximising premium and renewal retention, whilst maintaining strong underwriting principals.
- Broker training and presentations.
- Building strong client relationships to grow the Ando business.
Qualifications and experience
- An excellent team player, proactively taking measures to build excellent relationships internally and externally.
- Experience across multiple commercial lines of business including Property, Liability and Motor – whether in an underwriting or broking capacity
- Proven track record in growing a portfolio of business within the NZ insurance market and the ability to balance risk and commerciality in underwriting decisions.
- Strong sales discipline, with the ability to set and achieve growth targets.
- The flexibility to adapt and evolve with the business as it grows
