The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and customer-focused Business Development Manager to join our high-performing Central region Commercial Markets team, based in Hamilton.

Relationship building sits at the heart of this role. You’ll work closely with our broker network to grow the region and strengthen Ando’s presence across a broad commercial portfolio. Partnering closely with one of our Commercial Underwriters, you’ll focus on sustainable growth, strong broker engagement, and delivering great outcomes for customers.

While you may not come from an underwriting background, you’ll bring at least three years’ commercial insurance experience and a genuine appetite to grow and learn.

What you'll be doing:

• Managing and growing a portfolio across a range of Commercial Lines, including Property, Liability and Motor

• Driving new business opportunities while maximising renewal retention and premium growth

• Supporting brokers through training, presentations, and ongoing engagement

• Building trusted relationships that help grow Ando’s brand and commercial footprint

What experience and qualities you'll bring:

• Solid experience across multiple commercial lines, including Property, Liability and Motor

• A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships internally and externally

• A proven track record of growing a portfolio within the New Zealand insurance market

• Strong sales discipline with the ability to set and achieve growth targets

• Adaptability and resilience in a fast-moving, evolving business
