The role:

We have an exciting career development opportunity to join our high performing Northern Commercial Markets Team based in Auckland as Commercial Underwriter on an initial 6-month secondment to support our broker channel.

Ideally, you’ll have 2 - 3 years' underwriting experience within commercial lines products and have a strong understanding of the New Zealand market and emerging trends. You’ll need to have excellent communication skills with the ability to engage well with stakeholders - especially brokers.

Working closely with the Business Development Managers, you’ll be involved with new business, renewals and endorsements on a day-to-day basis, while strengthening relationships with intermediaries.

This role starts in November until June 2026, however there may be potential for the role to extend or go permanent depending on business requirements.

Helping our business grow and succeed in a challenging and changing environment, you’ll be responsible for:

• Engaging with brokers using your strong communication and relationship building skills.
• Ensuring all risks are underwritten and accepted within authorised limits.
• Taking ownership of renewal streams and quoting new business.
• Making quick and efficient decisions and being process savvy.
• Monitoring and analysing trends across renewals and claims.
• Meeting agreed SLAs and KPIs.
